Maldives' graft watchdog has launched a probe into possible corruption flagged in housing ministry's 2014 audit report.

The audit report had flagged several issues with the awarding of some development projects including the road construction project of seven islands to Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).

The report also said the housing ministry had hired an employee in violation of the civil service law while several violations of the financial Act were flagged.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) chief Hassan Luthfee told Avas on Tuesday that the commission is looking into the issues flagged in the audit report.
