Maldives government Saturday expressed hope that Sri Lanka and the Maldives can continue to maintain joint efforts to ensure regional peace and prosperity.
On the occasion of the 69th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in a message said the extant relations grounded in close cooperation, understanding and reciprocity will be further strengthened in the coming years.
"... to ensure a stronger development partnership for the mutual benefit of two peoples and countries as well as continued regional peace and prosperity," president Yameen's message to his Sri Lankan counterpart Maithripala Sirisena read.
