Man in coma after accident dies

The man injured in the accident in Thoddoo last Friday has passed away after spending the past few days in a coma at the state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)

An IGMH official has confirmed that the 34 year old has passed away, while being treated for his injuries in the ICU.

The accident occurred, after a motorcycle carrying three passengers crashed into a palm tree, after the driver lost control.

The driver of the accident had lost consciousness after impact, and had been breathing with the aid of a ventilator until his death.

The man's head reportedly crashed into the tree upon impact, causing numerous injuries to his head and face. The two passengers had not sustained any serious injuries.

A fatal accident on the L. Atoll Link Road last week had also claimed the life of another young man.
