Statistics show that the total amount of beds available in Kaafu Atoll Maafushi island would rise to 1,600 in 2018, with an increasing number of guesthouses.
Statistics received by 'Avas' regarding the Maafushi tourism industry, show that there were 1,024 beds available in Maafushi in 503 rooms. An additional 101 rooms will be constructed this year with 222 available beds. With 56 rooms, the Kaani Grand Seaview is one of the more anticipated guesthouses set to be built this year.
Forecasts for Maafushi tourism in 2018 show that industry giants such as Kaani Hotel and Arena would build hotels in Maafushi that year. The hotels would take the tally of rooms to a total of 771, and the total amount of beds available to 1,607.
Estimates show that around USD10 million enters Maafushi economy annuanlly, an island which is dominant in the Maldivian guesthouse industry.
Around 800 tourists had visited Maafushi for the New Year celebrations as well.
