A tourist at the Barefoot Echo in Haa Dhaal Atoll Hanimaadhoo island drowned on Monday, police confirmed.
Police spokesperson said the incident was first reported at around 1:00 PM Sunday afternoon, and that the victim has been identified as an 85 year old man from Italy.
Police said the investigation was underway but refused divulge any details.
The drowning comes hours after the coast guard launched a search operation for a tourist missing after going diving in Fuvahmulah.
