Maldives' judicial watchdog has announced plans to amend the law to limit its rulings' review to the appellate courts.
Lower courts now have the jurisdiction to hear the challenges of Judicial Commission Service (JSC) rulings over judges.
In its annual report released on Sunday, JSC revealed intention to revise the law in order to allow only the appellate courts to review its rulings. The commission said the law at present is hindering its legally obligated responsibilities.
According to the report, JSC is currently in discussion with relevant officials to submit the amendment to the parliament.
