Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) on Wednesday said plans are underway to link Male-Hulhumale water supply system via the China-Maldives friendship bridge.
The contractor for the Male-Hulhumale bridge,CCCC Engineering Ltd is working swiftly with MWSC on the design. MWSC said the models are now being designed for the network that would connect capital Male to the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.
The bridge dubbed China-Maldives Friendship bridge is being financed with USD126 million in grant aid and a concessionary loan from China along with USD12.6 million from the state budget.
The over water Male-Hulhumale Bridge will stretch out to 1.39 kilometers in length and 20 meters in width.
