Hot air balloon fest ticket sales begin

Sales of tickets for Maldives’ first hot air balloon festival have begun on Sunday.

Event managing company Unix Sporting’s managing director stated that the tickets will be sold starting Sunday at The Goatfish Café and Bistro in Malé city at MVR700. He noted that they will sell 500 tickets in order to present the opportunity for more participants and added that they will sell more according to their capabilities.

Maldives' first hot air balloon festival will be held on Eid 2017.

The festival was initially planned to be hosted on May 19. However, it had to be delayed until the weather was most ideal.

A teaser event for the festival will take place on May 19, during which a balloon will take flight from Male and land in the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.

The balloons used for the festival, along with a group of experts in flying the balloon, will be flying in from abroad for the festival.

Other stalls will also be held at the area of the festival. Three balloons will take flight during the event.

The balloons will be held in place and will be lit up during the night.

Hot air balloons are flown in nations around the globe and remains a popular attraction for tourists.
