Tax revenue up 26.5 percent in Apr

Maldives has recorded a 26 percent increase in tax revenue last month with MVR1.1 billion in collections, inland revenue statistics have shown.

According to Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) statistics the total figure in tax collections last month was 26.5 percent more than the MVR890.1 million recorded in the same period last year.

The biggest contributor was Goods and Service Tax (GST) with MVR658 million followed by MVR28 million in Business Profit Tax (BPT) and MVR52 million in Green Tax.

The statistics also showed that the state had generated a MVR55 million from tourism land rent and MVR92 million from airport service charge last month.

The revenue in US dollars was 43.1 million, statistics showed.
