An elderly man died on Saturday after a fatal collision in the accident prone link road in Laamu Atoll.
Police spokesperson said a mopad had collided with a small truck parked on the side of the link road around 8pm on Saturday.
The 66 year old identified as Abdul Sattar Mohamed had been riding the mopad and had crashed into the truck which was unloading goods on the side of the road, spokesperson said.
Eyewitnesses said the victim had been thrown from his bike after the collision. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after he was rushed to the Gan regional hospital.
This was the second fatal accident on the Laamu link road this year.
