Critical victim in warehouse fire sent abroad

Expat in critical condition after last Sunday’s warehouse fire in the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale was sent abroad for further medical treatment.

State-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) spokesperson Ahmed Mausoom told Avas that the expat had suffered severe burn injuries. However, victim's condition has been aggravated as he suffered from carbon monoxide positioning from smoke inhalation.

Amin Construction is yet to make a statement on the matter.

A total 31 people were injured in the fire and had been rushed to the hospital in Hulhumale.

Nine victims had been taken to IGMH for further treatment.

IGMH spokesperson further stated that five people, excluding the critical victim. were still admitted at the hospital adding that in house patients had undergone surgery and will be released shortly.

The expats were believed to have been housed in the four-storey warehouse owned by local construction giant Amin Constructions. The fire had reportedly broken out on the top floor which is the accommodation block of the expats.
