The trial of the primary suspect in the murder of a 54-year-old local man in an ice plant at Ihavandhoo in Haa Alif Atoll is scheduled to begin on Thursday.
Police had revealed that the primary suspect, 27-year-old Bangladeshi expat Shomun Mia had confessed to the murder, adding that the murder weapon and the clothes he wore during the crime had been recovered.
Police had earlier said a total of six suspects had been arrested over the murder, but only two other suspects had been charged with attempt to conceal the murder.
Police believe that the murder was motivated by greed.
