Suspect arrested in connection to the cafe murder has been remanded for 15 days. A 22-year-old man died a day after he was stabbed in the head in a café in the capital city Malé.
The suspect, Mohamed Mafaaz, was apprehended after the police raided his home on Thursday evening. He was one of the criminals confined to their home after former home minster established an electronic tagging system.
Police revealed that they made another arrest after raiding the home of Mafaaz. However, they did not disclose the reason behind the second arrest. Police had also confiscated some items after the raid.
The stab victim was having coffee with friends at a café in Henveiru district when four masked men had stabbed him, around 06:30pm, and fled the scene.
The Maldives capital has seen a spike in violent crime in recent months after a period of relative calm.
