Police summon MP Musthafa

Police have summoned Thimarafushi MP Musthafa over comments made during a programme on opposition aligned Raajje TV.

MP Musthafa was sent a summon to be present at the police station at 04:00pm on Monday. Police are summoning the opposition lawmaker for allegedly encouraging people to commit unlawful acts and overthrow the government.

The summon stated that the police will be taking the MP’s statement for investigation.

MP Musthafa was earlier summoned by the police after a travel ban was imposed on the lawmaker over the same matter. However, the summon was later cancelled.

Whilst MP Musthafa is being summoned, police have earlier summoned and taken the statements of lawmakers for breaching the police lines and entering the parliament on July 24. Travel bans were also imposed on the lawmakers under court orders.
