Maldives records MVR2.1 bln revenue in July

The state collected MVR2.1 billion (US $54 million) as revenue in July, statistics published by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has revealed. 

According to MIRA’s statistics, the biggest contributors to the increase in total revenue collected in July is Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Bank Profile Tax (BPT).

While BPT brought in the biggest revenue for the state last month with MVR892 million, BPT had brought in revenue of MVR722 million in the same period of late year. GST was the second biggest contributor, bringing in MVR642 million which is an increment from its’ value last year of MVR340 million.

The state collected MVR51 million as Green Tax, MVR1.1 million as Land Acquisition Tax, MVR1.6 million as Remittance Tax and MVR158 million as tourism land lease.

MIRA also revealed that authority had collected 53.4 million in USD during the month of May.

The highest total revenue was collected in July this year thus far. MIRA is also taking extra initiative to collect due taxes.
