"STO has decided to increase petrol and diesel prices due to bumps on world market price of oil" the company said.
While prices on oil has been increased, the largest oil distributor in Maldives brought changes to their sales prices back in June - amid a duty rate deduction - leading to 51 Laari discarded from petrol per liter and 30 Laari skimmed off from diesel per liter.
Since then petrol was sold at a rate of MVR 8.65 per liter and diesel at a rate of MVR 8.44 per liter.
Meanwhile crude oil prices in world market stayed at 48.61 dollars.
