Jumhoory Party leader and Chairman of Villa Group Qasim Ibrahim, who was recently sentenced to a jail term of 3 years over finding guilty of bribery was given permission to seek medical attention abroad over his deteriorating health.
Maldives Corrections Service gave the permission for Qasim Ibrahim to fly to Singapore.
Corrections Service said on Wednesday night that the authority has assessed the situation based on the advice of medical board. The Service granted Qasim Ibrahim to travel to Singapore for medical examination regarding his health condition. The Villa Group head was reported to have heart conditions.
The Jumhoory Party leader was granted a period of 10 days to fly to Singapore and seek the necessary medical attention.
Qasim Ibrahim departed from Maldives on Wednesday night shortly after he was granted the fly permit.
