MTCC boat yard opens with the largest hoist

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has officially opened their boat yard at Thilafushi with the largest boat hoist capable of loading and unloading vessels weighing as heavy as 200 tons.

The boat yard in operation and development for sometime was officially opened during a ceremony held on Monday - where a barge built at site was launched into the water while the hoist vehicle was operated by MTCC's Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Ziyath.

Speaking at Monday's ceremony the company's head honcho noted the pontoon barge titled "Mula" was the second such vessel built at the site and it was completed under two and half months.

Ziyath addressed media stating an investment of MVR 40 million incurred on the development phase of the boat yard, adding the primary works comprised of maintenance and repairing of vessels under MTCC's fleet.

The head of MTCC also added the company aims to open the boat yard for business and with the inclusion of the most powerful boat hoist in the country under their inventory, the company would facilitate its service to clients.

The boat yard situated at the north end of Thilafushi renders boat crafting, fiber and wood works along with marine engineering and electronic engineering on vessels.

MTCC has developed spacious slipways and workshops in order to cater their services to customers.
