Business forum on mid-tier companies commences

Business forum commences targeting mid-tier corporations, at Meemu Atoll Mulaku.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the deputy minister of Ministry of Economic Development Adam Thaufeeq said such a forum would help to bridge the gap between local businesses popping up in atolls with business center in Male' and therefore seek assistance in setting up or executing ventures.

Thaufeeq also highlighted the increase of participants in the forum compared to the previous such venture forum held, adding the business forum would benefit several local businesses in Meemu Atoll.

"We would be able to identify the financial challenges these business have been experiencing and through the forum we would be able to understand the various approaches of providing needed support through our financial institutions" Thaufeeq said.

The forum has been participated by more than 140 individuals presenting startup and new ventures in the region with all the financial institutions operating in Maldives taking part as well.

Economic Ministry had started a series of investment forums with each of it targeted at a certain atoll or region of Maldives. Previously two forums had been held at Addu atoll and Fuvahmulah as well. Both forums had counted more than 250 ventures operating in these regions participating.

Ministry had established Business Center Corporation (BCC) to provide assistance for small and mid-tier businesses in order to strengthen their corporate structure.
