China-Maldives trade relations grown stronger; President

President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated the trade and economic relations between Maldives and China have matured and grown strong.

President Yameen made the statement in a special message to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to commemorate the 45th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

In his message, President Yameen had thanked the Chinese president and nation for their continued support and assistance in the development and progress of Maldivian economy and society. He also emphasized the growth and strength of the bilateral relationship between the two nations, pointing out how it has grown and matured in time.

President Yameen also hoped for the relationship of the two countries to solidify even more in future.

Since President Yameen was sworn into office, he had maintained a constant and growing relationship with China.

Diplomatic relationship between Maldives and China was established on October 14, 1972.
