Messages should be 'short and sweet'; says President

President of Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has recommended messages aimed to him be 'short and sweet.'

While speaking at the closing ceremony of Women's symposium which was spearheaded by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, President Yameen said messages bearing detailed content and put brief would be easily answerable.

"Many citizens reach out to me using various social media applications on a daily basis. I respond to those messages, and messages that are short and on point would be easy to answer," said President Yameen.

The head of the state had also advised government bodies to follow suit in reaching and communicating with him.

Apart from this, in his speech on Saturday night, President Yameen had stressed on the equality of genders and placed importance on women's collective role in corporate or employment world. He added that women, just like their male counterparts are important in contributing to the community.

He expressed his gratitude to his spouse and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim for her initiatives in empowering women.

President Yameen also noted on the works underway in amending regulations and conduct to place four females at the board of government owned corporations, which holds a total 10 member capacity.

The symposium which was organized to create skilled women in the continued efforts of women empowerment as well as to recruit campaigners for the upcoming presidential elections of 2018.

President Abdulla Yameen assured the state's support and encouragement in women empowerment.
