SME Financial Forum kicks off at Kulhudhuffushi

SME Financial Forum starts at northern hub of Kulhudhuffushi attracting all local businesses owned and operated in north region.

Previous forums had been conducted at Addu City targeting businesses of the city and neighboring Fuvahmulah with the aim of providing technical support and consultancy in local small and medium scale businesses.

The thir forum which was aimed at northern region, mainly Haa Dhaal atoll started on Saturday morning at Kulhudhuffushi with 150 participants.

The deputy minister of Ministry of Economic Development Adam Thaufeeq had stressed the government's priority in facilitating a friendly and welcoming environment for businesses to operate, stating the contributor importance of such businesses.

The ministry claims the forum aims to alleviate the challenges and obstacles faced by local small and medium scale businesses and provide them with the technical, financial and operational support and consultancy. Economic ministry hopes to bridge the gap between businesses across the country with the various financial institutions stationed at the central focal point that is Male'.

The forum is participated by all registered financial institutions in Maldives, inclulding Bank Of Maldives (BML) Maldives Islamic Bank and Allied Insurance along with several others.

In addition to this the ministry had opened Business Center Corporation Limited (BCC) to better strengthen and cater for small and medium businesses in Maldives.
