Inflation recedes by 0.27% in October

The National Bureau of Statistics has confirmed of inflation rate in Maldives receding by 0.27% in the month of October 2017.

According to the bureau, prices of fish in Maldives had reduced by 5.24% while vegetables produced domestically had receded in price at 2.97% with a 2.16% slip in entertainment services. Similarly clothing and footwear prices had gone down by 0.63 percent.

On the other hand fruit prices had hiked by 5.90% and dairy products increased by 0.63% with home appliances peaking another 0.67 percent.

Although fish and fish products saw a decrease in prices, meat had a counter-effect on price with it adding a 1.15% to the rates while pharmaceutical drugs saw an increase of 0.39% and motorbikes prices increased by 0.58 percent. Meanwhile land transportation prices had bumped by 0.86% and services and goods falling into miscellaneous category rose by 0.13 percent.

The statistics bureau had stated that inflation rate rose by 0.52% in September and saw its recede the following month.
