The best kindness Maldives can give to investors is the return on investment, business tycoon Mohamed Ali Janah said Tuesday.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the Investment Forum in Dubai on Tuesday, Janah the chairman of Hotels and Resort Construction (HRC), a leading construction firm in the Maldives insisted that Maldives remains the premier investment destination in South Asia with the shortest return on investment for foreign investors.
"Similar to oil and gas in the middle east, Maldives has its natural beauty and unrivaled local hospitality. I believe that the best kindness Maldives can give is the return on investment for foreign investors," Janah who has been in resort construction for a quarter of a century stressed.
During the ceremony attended by over 300 top Dubai businessmen, Janah who has led a number of top-tier resort projects in the archipelago hailed Maldives' stunning rise as arguably the best tropical island destination in the world by attracting the cream of global hotel chains and brands.
"We've seen top brands take on multiple investments in the Maldives within a short period of time. This proves that Maldives has the ideal investment climate. The potential that we have. We are seeing a single group taking on over a dozen investments in the Maldives. And that is extremely satisfying for us and for me personally," he said.
Janah who had served as the president of the Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI) for many years insisted that tourism was not the only sector foreign investors can look at.
"The private sector has flourished with joint projects with the government. Along with resort development there are so many other investment opportunities in the Maldives. Maldives will always welcome foreign investors," Janah who continues to bring in top global brands to the Maldives added.
The business tycoon also thanked the government for taking the initiative to attract more foreign investments to the island nation highlighting the forum as a key event to reaching out to investors.
The Maldives Investment Forum is an annual event targeted at encouraging investment, focused on foreign investment, in the Maldives – the event is a direct result of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's drive towards a transformative shift in the Maldives’ economic growth through continued innovation and investment.
The forum in Dubai is the fourth edition of the annual event where it had been previously hosted in Singapore, China and India.
