Maldives records rare uptick in China tourists

After years of struggling to arrest a slide in number of tourist arrivals from China, Maldives in November registered a rare uptick in tourists from the global superpower.

Europe market for the Maldives has continued to improve with a 17.1 percent increase in November.

During the same period, Chinese tourists registered an 11.8 percent increase in November with 21,195 in comparison to 18,954 last year.

Despite the uptick in November, the overall numbers from the largest tourism market for the Maldives remained low with 286,612 arrivals so far this year compared to 308,077 last year which is a seven percent decline.

Europe market for the Maldives has continued to improve with a 17.1 percent increase in November.
