FIFA World Cup trophy to reach Maldives next month

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy, which is scheduled to visit more than 50 countries around the globe will arrive in the Maldives on January 24, according to the world football governing body.

The trophy tour will begin from neighbouring Sri Lanka the previous day and will be in the Maldives until January 25.

The ultimate footballing prize for which 32 teams would be competing for next summer had completed the first stage of its tour around Russia - the host country of this year's world cup.

On 22 January, the international leg of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola kicks off in London, United Kingdom before visiting more than 50 countries on all six continents. The FIFA World Cup Trophy will return to Russia in May 2018.
