Maldives coastguard on Saturday intercepted a Somalian fishing vessel inside its waters, less than a day after capturing a Thailand boat.
A coastguard official said the boat named 'Chotpatanna 51' was spotted nine miles south west of Alif Dhaal Atoll Maamigili island. Though the boat was flying a Somalian flag, the crew was Thailand nationals, the official added.
The boat had notified authorities of its need to refuel and restock but had entered Maldivian waters before the necessary approval was issued, coastguard said.
The boat has since been seized by the coastguard for further investigation, the official said.
Coastguard was now trying to bring the two captured vessels to the capital Male which were expected to reach around 3pm Saturday.
