Incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom had loudly claimed the former vice president Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor does not reserve any civic or constitutional rights on Maldives soil.
He said this while addressing his supporters at the west end of Male' in front of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) campaign office (former West-Park zone). The excited crowd gathered in front of the area cheered when president Yameen made the statement.
"What rights does Ahmed Adeeb reserve? Does he have any civic rights at all?" said president Yameen in his speech on Saturday afternoon.
Furthermore president Yameen had advised against the Maldivian citizens from supporting the release of jailed former vice president, who according to the head of the state had exploited the trust between them gravely.
President Abdulla Yameen had jeered the opposition movement and mocked the political ties between former presidents Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Mohamed Nasheed in his speech on Saturday.
Moreover he also described the opposition members are attempting to make "shady deals" to instigate the people and provoke them against the government.
