Nasheed govt VP Waheed supports Prez resignation call

Former vice president Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has expressed his support to a tweet calling for the resignation of incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Self-exiled former president Mohamed Nasheed, who heavily criticized the current head of state on his Saturday's speech addressing ruling party supporters. Dr. Waheed had retweeted Nasheed's tweet which said "Pledging to hold an early election in a fixed term presidential system as in the Maldives is ludicrous."

"President Yameen must relent and leave now," Nasheed added.

It comes as a surprising move by Dr. Waheed, who as of late had shown his support to incumbent president Yameen and his administration - indicating a change of his ideals on the current state.
