Finance Minister Ahmed Munavvar has confirmed the state has collected USD 25 million in Airport Development Charges (ADC).
ADC is collected from travelers leaving the country from Velana International Airport (VIA), with expats charged USD 25 and locals charged USD 12. The fee collected is then deposited into a sovereign development fund.
Minister Munavvar while speaking to Public Service Media (PSM) noted the fee collected would not be used by the state on any immediate projects but rather saved for later in order to repay debts at a time of necessity.
He also noted the fee was not deposited to the fund in 2017 since the charge was implemented later on.
