Police late Sunday arrested the driver of the car which collided with a motorbike killing the motorist on the accident-prone link road in the southernmost Atoll Addu late Saturday.
The middle aged man now identified Mohamed Ramsh Riyaz was riding the motorbike when it by the car. A Hithadhoo regional hospital official said the man had died from the injuries when he was brought to the hospital.
According to sources the driver of the car had been arrested late Sunday and has been remanded for 15 days.
According to sources, the driver and two passengers in the car were also being treated for various injuries after the accident.
Accidents on Addu’s link road occur quite frequently resulting in multiple fatalities each year.
