Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has confirmed the installation of solar panels in the apartments at Hulhumale' has been completed by 80 percent.
Recommended through the Environment Ministry the initiative would see at least 1,000 housing units at Hulhumale' fitted with solar panels in an attempt to transition the satellite town to a 'green city.'
HDC expects the change would benefit the residents economically as solar powered electricity would be a significant cut-off in power consumption.
