Maldives' broadcasting regulator on Friday denied launching a probe into an interview given to opposition aligned Raajje TV by self-exiled former president Mohamed Nasheed.
Several local media outlets last week had quoted a senior Raajje TV official saying that the broadcasting regulator had launched a probe into Nasheed's interview to Raajje TV on February 4.
Following the reports, Maldives Broadcasting Commission on Twitter denied the claims alleging that the "fake news" was designed to tarnish the reputation of the commission.
The commission further urged local media to be more responsible when reporting.
