Police misconduct will be heard and dealt with; Commissioner

Maldives Police Service acting Commissioner Abdulla Nawaz has claimed any misconduct or unacceptable behavior of officers will be heard and necessary action will be taken accordingly to discipline them.

Speaking at the ceremony to commemorate the police anniversary on Wednesday night the department's acting commissioner stressed on the importance of safeguarding the public and national security.

He encouraged officers of Maldives Police Service to fulfill their responsibilities adhering to the country's Constitution and act with diligence and perseverance in resolving issues.

Nawaz had also asked the public to cooperate and assist authorities in their duty, adding that the public should not hesitate reporting any inaction or misconduct of an officer on duty; which would thus be dealt with accordingly.

Police acting commissioner had urged the officers of the department counter any threat to the national security and public safety. He also advised the Maldives Police Service officers to ensure a safe environment for the people of Maldives in every possibility.
