Largest telecommunication provider in Maldives Dhivehiraajjeyge Gulhun or Dhiraagu had a profitable fiscal year in 2017 according to their annual report.
The company's annual profit after tax or net-profit had increased by more than 6% according the figures on their report.
According to Dhiraagu's annual financial report they had reached a net-profit of MVR 898 million at the end of their 2017 fiscal year run. This is a 6.9% bump from the MVR 840 million in 2016 as their profit after tax.
The telecom provider generated an income of MVR 2.6 billion in 2017 while a year earlier they managed to rake in MVR 2.5 billion as revenue.
The company paid MVR 160 million as taxes to Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA); government's taxation authority.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ismail Rasheed claimed that apart from the bump in profit the company's customer base had also grown through the run of 2017.
Dhiraagu has scheduled their annual general meeting for May 14 and the company's board of directors had agreed to pay dividends at MVR 11.81 per share to all its shareholders.
