Two dies in Holhudhoo plummeting to lagoon on bike

Two Noonu atoll Holhudhoo citizens passed away on early hours of Sunday night after an accident left them plummeting to the island's lagoon at uncontrollable speed.

Authorities have identified the victims as Holhudhoo locals Husna Mohamed, aged 27 and Ahmed Adeel, aged 26.

Police confirms the accident took place due to the rider losing control of the motorbike and falling from the quay at uncontrollable speed. While the vehicle sustained heavy damage, both victims had already died when they were pulled out from the water.

"Both of them [victims] had already died even before they were rushed to the hospital. Even the bike had sustained serious damage," a Holhudhoo council member spoke.

Maldives Police confirms they were investigating the accident.
