Amendments to local elections bills have been scheduled for Monday's parliament session; which is commencing after a long hiatus.
Maldives parliament is expected to commence its first sitting on Monday afternoon at 13:00hrs following a hiatus from any proceedings at the house of representatives.
The local government has presented amendments to three distinct bills which includes the proposed amendments to the presidential election regulations by ruling Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) parliamentary group leader Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik.
Government affiliated lawmaker of Fares-Maathoda constituency Hussain Mohamed Latheef had also presented an amendment to the same bill as well.
Apart from this the default reading on amendments proposed to the general regulations of local elections by Holhudhoo MP Ali Mohamed on behalf of government has been scheduled for Monday's sitting as well.
Third item on Monday sitting's agenda is to derive a parliament decision on president Abdulla Yameen's nominee Mohamed Hussain Shareef as the non-resident ambassador to Russian Federation.
