Several over water-villas have been destroyed in a blaze at Niyama Resort; situated in Dhaal atoll.
The fire was reported around dawn of Monday, with no casualties or injuries. Authorities have since extinguished the wild fire.
According to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) the fire was completely controlled around 07:03hrs on Monday morning, and confirmed that several over water-villas had been severely damaged.
