Long awaited resort in Maldives south to open in Dec

The long awaited resort in Maldives' southernmost Atoll Addu is set to open its first 100 rooms in December, Ismehela Hera resort revealed Sunday.

The two pronged Integrated Resort Development Project in the uninhabited island of Ismehela Hera was launched in 2015 where a total 240 rooms is set to be developed.

Ismehela Hera resort CEO Moosa Didi told state television that 69 percent of the project has now been completed.

"The civil works of the power house is nearing completion. The required material is already en-route. Now we're making final preparations," Didi explained.

According to Didi, the construction of the rooms, water villas, reception, arrival jetty, bar and restaurant was underway.

The stunning Ismehela Hera resort would boast a total of 110 water villas, 30 ocean villas and 70 rooms.

The relatively large atoll, which has unique geographical features compared to other parts of the island nation, is home to only two of the around 120 tourist resorts in the Maldives; Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa and Canareef Resort Maldives.
