Maldives president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has officially inaugurated the sewerage system at Shaviyani atoll Milandhoo on Tuesday.
The project was assigned to Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) back in August 19, 2014. The company was conditioned to complete the sewerage or drainage system within 15 months.
MWSC had carried out the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) in order to design and establish a pump-station which is mandatory for the project since it is carried out under design and build approach under a direct negotiation.
The sewerage corporation had established a total of 5 pump-stations in Milandhoo and laid a 13.2 kilometer of sewerage network across the island slip. The newly established system will provide the utility service to 700 residences while a 150 meter out-pole pipeline was linked to drain wastage from households.
President Abdulla Yameen graced the northern atoll island sometime in Tuesday morning. He was accompanied by a delegate of his cabinet ministers as well.
