The first ever beauty pageant winner in Maldives, Ramla Ahmed has passed away on Tuesday morning.
Ramla Ahmed, born to upper northern Haa Alif Atoll Baarah was pronounced dead around 10:30hrs on Tuesday morning at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
She won the contest back in 1953 during the presidency of Mohamed Ameen; the first president of the first republic.

During the former president Mohamed Ameen's administration beauty pageants were held by selecting aesthetically appealing women from across the island nation.
