President Yameen leaves for trip to northern atolls

President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Tuesday left the capital city to visit two of the northern most atolls; Haa Alif and Haa Dhaal.

President's Office revealed president Yameen is expected to visit Haa Dhaal Nolhivaram and Hanimaadhoo. Following this he will be visiting Haa Alif Hoarafushi, Ihavandhoo, Dhihdhoo and Kelaa.

The island nation's leader is scheduled to officially inaugurate the sewerage system at Nolhivaram, Hanimaadhoo and Haaf Alif Ihavandhoo on Tuesday while he will also take part in the closing ceremony of shore preservation of Haa Alif Hoarafushi.

President Yameen is also expected to visit Haa Alif Dhihdhoo to inaugurate fresh water distillery and attend the closing ceremonies of shore preservation and road construction at the island. He will also officially open the housing units constructed at the island as well.

The Maldives head of state will then visit Haa Alif atoll Kelaa to inaugurate the island's newly developed sewerage system, following it he will grace Haa Alif atoll Baarah to open a newly established marina-style jetty.

President Abdulla Yameen is expected to travel back to the capital on Wednesday.
