Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has claimed the infrastructural or urban development to various constituencies are credited to government and president himself.

According to Maldives president, his administration does not view parliamentarians as a 'bridge' between government and constituency but rather as an 'advocate'.

President Abdulla Yameen stressed the infrastructural development to Maldives islands are designated by the government and through president's decision. He added such projects will be included in every year's state budget before it gets forwarded to parliament for assessment.

President Yameen emphasized the local parliament was not in control of governing the nation, but it is vested in the country's president.
