Maldives pres appoints new member to judicial watchdog

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Tuesday appointed Mohamed Saleem as his member to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Saleem who also serves as a member of National Asset Recovery Commission was appointed as the new JSC member during a ceremony held at the President's Office on Tuesday.

President's Office said Saleem would continue to serve on the asset recovery commission despite his appointment to the JSC.

Saleem who had served as a JSC member in the past has an extensive legal background during his long tenure at the Attorney General's (AG) office.

Saleem is replacing Mohamed Faisal following his appointment to the High Court bench earlier this month.
