'PPM is the saviour that will save JSC from political influence'

Jailed opposition leader and former president of the Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has stated that his party would save the country’s economy and bring about judicial reform.

The former president who is currently serving a jail sentence at Maafushi Jail on money laundering convictions passed on the message to the people of the Maldives through his lawyers on Tuesday.

“The only political party that has been successful in bringing out economic development and prosperity to the Maldives is PPM. God Willing, PPM will salvage the country’s economy once more and bring about meaningful reform to the legal and judicial sector. PPM will save the Judicial Service Commission from the claws of political figures. I urge you to continue the work you are doing in unity. God willing, the efforts will bear fruit,” said Yameen.
