VIA development attracts local entrepreneurs' praise

Some of the most prominent entrepreneurs in Maldives have praised government's initiative of developing Velana International Airport (VIA).

Mohamed Umar Manik, regarded as one of the main pioneers behind the boom of local tourism industry, said the investment projected to the development of VIA will not be considered a waste.

Speaking on the panel discussion program 'My Future - My Nation' on Public Service Media (PSM) Manik said the airport's development will prove beneficial in the future.

Famous businessman and resort mogul 'Champa' Hussain Afeef praised the airport's development and said "in today's age we fall behind simply by staying idle. So I think this expansion is necessary."

Hotel and Resort's chairman Mohamed Ali Janaah had similar sentiments and said with tourism being the main economic steering wheel in Maldives a well developed airport is necessary to complement it.

Velana International Airport (VIA) development project exceeds USD1 billion.
