Economic Ministry of Maldives has decided to extend the business hours on cafes, restaurants and shops during Eid holidays.
The ministry said business hours for cafes, restaurants, cafeterias, canteens and similar food service outlets will be extended until 01:00hrs in the morning from August 18 until August 31.
During the same period business hours on local shops have been extended by an hour to 23:00hrs.
Economic Ministry decided on extending business hours since many will be active until late hours during Eid holidays.
The decision comes as Eid-al-Adha draws days closer, which starts on August 21. Eid-al-Adha follows the Muslim sacred act of pilgrimage, where hundreds upon thousands of Muslims from all across the globe head to Mecca, Saudi Arabia to attend the pilgrimage.
