Opposition running-mate Faisal Naseem has strongly condemned the Indian BJP member of parliament Subramanian Swamy's remark on Friday.
According to the Indian lawmaker, the South-Asian giant must intervene the island nation's political affairs if the results of the upcoming presidential elections were illicitly realized.
Naseem on Friday said MP Swamy's remarks were irresponsible and hoped the diplomatic ties between the two countries will not deteriorate.
Swamy's remarks were criticized heavily by both ruling party and opposition political figures alike.
The BJP member made the remarks following his meeting with former president Mohamed Nasheed at Sri Lanka.
