President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Monday promised to counter the unavailability of land areas in the island for various prospects.
The Maldives president pledged to reclaim land for the island slip while addressing its public.
The island constituency's lawmaker Ahmed Thoriq addressed difficulties faced by the islanders over lack of space in Mahibadhoo and said he hopes president Yameen will bring a solution to the issue.
President Yameen who visited the island to participate in the closing ceremonies of some development projects, said the island consists just 20 hectares of land area. He confirmed the possibility of reclaiming 10% more land area by reclaiming land from the Mahibadhoo's lagoon.
The island nation's president visited Alif Dhaal Mahibadhoo on Monday afternoon to celebrate the completion of the island's road development project.
