Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has suspected the internationally famous AirBnB and several online travel partners were illegally selling travel packages in Maldives.

The association in their statement has shown concern of foreign travel partners and agents operating illegally in Maldives, and added the famous booking site AirBnB was violating local guidelines.

MATATO has accused AirBnB of operating against the taxation laws effective in Maldives. The association further added that several expatriates were illegally operating as agents.
